Blue vintage car, Cuba flag flying high in Havana

Hola Havana! – Cuba’s Capital of Vintage Car Cool

Covetable vintage cars, music playing on every corner (the catchy Buena Vista Social Club and Hasta Siempre Comandante, mostly), and architecture which, although heart-breakingly crumbling in most places, is among some of the most beautiful. A sprawling city to explore by day, with flea markets selling books, paintings and hand-printed movie posters of old; churros con chocolat and 20c pizza around narrow twists and turn. Come nightfall, Havana comes to life: feast on lobster and shrimp broquettes and cool, house-brewed ‘claro’ beer in the Plaza Vieja, and head to Floridita for a freshly whipped up daiquiri a la Ernest Hemingway, a frequenter to this quirky haunt. There’s no place like Havana.

    1. Thank you. It is! Highly recommend a visit. The rooster statue is a mystery. There was nothing written on it and online research since hasn’t shed any light on it either…
